چکیده

Background T1 Mapping has emerged as a new marker to quantify myocardial extracellular volume (ECV), which is typically increased in the setting of diffuse fibrosis or infiltrative heart diseases. However the reproducibility of the technique is largely unknown. We sought to identify the interobserver, intraobserver variability of different T1 mapping techniques as well as validation of one technique against the standard technique for ECV quantification.

Comparison of T1 mapping techniques for ECV quantification. Histological validation and reproducibility of ShMOLLI versus multibreath-hold T1 quantification equilibrium contrast CMR

BACKGROUND Myocardial extracellular volume (ECV) is elevated in fibrosis or infiltration and can be quantified by measuring the haematocrit with pre and post contrast T1 at sufficient contrast equilibrium. Equilibrium CMR (EQ-CMR), using a bolus-infusion protocol, has been shown to provide robust measurements of ECV using a multibreath-hold T1 pulse sequence. Newer, faster sequences for T1 mapp...

Extracellular matrix expansion by cardiac magnetic resonance T1 mapping- validation with myocardial biopsy

Background Accumulation of diffuse myocardial fibrosis / extracellular volume (ECV) in the myocardium is common to various cardiac diseases and is associated with an unfavorable prognosis. Various cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) T1 mapping techniques have recently been proposed for the quantification of ECV, including: 1. Modified Look-Locker Inversion recovery (MOLLI) T1 mapping including cal...

Age and sex corrected normal reference values of T1, T2 T2* and ECV in healthy subjects at 3T CMR

BACKGROUND Myocardial T1, T2 and T2* imaging techniques become increasingly used in clinical practice. While normal values for T1, T2 and T2* times are well established for 1.5 Tesla (T) cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR), data for 3T remain scarce. Therefore we sought to determine normal reference values relative to gender and age and day to day reproducibility for native T1, T2, T2* mapp...

Myocardial T1 and extracellular volume fraction measurement in asymptomatic patients with aortic stenosis: reproducibility and comparison with age-matched controls.

AIMS (i) To establish the test-retest reproducibility of myocardial T1 and extracellular volume (ECV) fraction measurement in asymptomatic patients with moderate-severe aortic stenosis (AS), (ii) to compare reproducibility using motion-corrected (MOCO) parametric T1 maps for analysis vs. full MOLLI series of images, and (iii) to compare T1 and ECV between patients and age-matched controls. ME...

Whole-heart T1-mapping with single breath-hold

Background T1-mapping, directly measuring the underlying longitudinal relaxation times (T1), and extracellular volume (ECV) quantification, are emerging techniques for myocardial fibrosis quantification. Recent studies have reported significant T1 differences in fibrotic and normal tissue, but whole-heart T1-mapping is rarely performed in clinical practice, due to the associated time-consuming ...
